The light heavyweight clash between Jiří Procházka and Jamahal Hill at UFC 311 on January 18, 2025, was exactly what fans expected: an all-action battle between two former UFC champions known for their knockout power. With both men trying to return to title contention after losses to Alex Pereira, the stakes were enormous.

From the opening bell, neither fighter showed much interest in a cautious approach. Procházka immediately adopted his trademark unpredictable movement, constantly switching stances, feinting, and attacking from unusual angles. Hill answered with his crisp boxing, maintaining a calmer posture while firing sharp jabs and straight left hands. Several exchanges ended with both men landing clean shots, bringing the crowd to its feet.

During the first round, Hill’s timing looked excellent. He caught Procházka with several accurate counter punches whenever the Czech fighter lunged forward. Procházka, however, refused to back down, responding with looping hooks, spinning attacks, and heavy kicks to the body and legs. The pace was relentless, and both fighters absorbed significant damage without slowing down. A brief pause followed an accidental eye poke, but the intensity resumed immediately afterward.

The second round became even more competitive. Hill found success with his straight left and repeatedly intercepted Procházka’s aggressive entries. One powerful right hand briefly stunned Procházka, who answered moments later with a crushing right of his own. Hill also landed a damaging body shot after catching a kick, forcing Procházka to retreat for the first time in the fight. Despite absorbing clean punches, Procházka’s relentless pressure never faded. He continued marching forward, throwing combinations from awkward angles and forcing Hill into constant defensive exchanges.

Entering the third round, Procházka increased the pressure dramatically. He began landing faster combinations, mixing hooks with straight punches while refusing to give Hill space to reset. Hill still fired dangerous counters and even landed a solid clinch knee, but Procházka’s volume and aggression steadily wore him down.

The decisive moment arrived midway through the round. Procházka connected with a devastating one-two combination that dropped Hill hard to the canvas. Hill bravely scrambled back to his feet, but Procházka immediately swarmed him with another barrage of punches. Backpedaling across the cage, Hill absorbed several unanswered shots before collapsing once more. As Procházka continued landing heavy ground strikes, referee Mike Beltran stepped in and stopped the contest at 3:01 of Round 3, awarding Procházka a technical knockout victory.

The victory reaffirmed Procházka’s reputation as one of the UFC’s most exciting finishers. He earned another Performance of the Night bonus and strengthened his case for another light heavyweight title opportunity. Hill showed tremendous toughness throughout the fight and had numerous moments of success, but Procházka’s relentless pace, creativity, and finishing instincts ultimately proved too much.

Statistically, the bout was one of the standout light heavyweight fights of 2025, featuring constant momentum swings, high-level striking, and dramatic finishing action. Fans and analysts praised it as an instant classic between two former champions whose aggressive styles produced exactly the type of thrilling contest many had anticipated.
