The lightweight main event between Rafael Fiziev and Manuel Torres headlined UFC Fight Night 280: Fiziev vs. Torres on June 27, 2026, at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan. Competing in front of his home crowd, Fiziev entered the bout looking to halt a difficult stretch of results, while the explosive Torres arrived with a reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous finishers, having earned nearly all of his UFC victories inside the opening round.

From the opening bell, Torres showed no hesitation, marching forward behind fast combinations and forcing Fiziev to work defensively. The Mexican mixed looping hooks with straight punches, attempting to overwhelm Fiziev before the hometown favorite could establish his rhythm. Fiziev responded with sharp footwork, crisp jabs, and powerful calf kicks that gradually slowed Torres’ forward pressure. Whenever Torres rushed into range, Fiziev countered with lightning-fast combinations, particularly his trademark right body kick and left hook. The first round was highly competitive, with Torres enjoying early success through aggression while Fiziev found increasing accuracy as the minutes passed. By the end of the round, the Azerbaijani striker appeared to have solved Torres’ timing, landing cleaner counters and forcing Torres to hesitate before charging in.

Only seconds into the second round, Fiziev delivered the defining moment of the fight. As Torres stepped forward looking to pressure once again, Fiziev disguised his attack with a slight feint before suddenly unleashing a spectacular spinning heel kick. The kick landed flush on the side of Torres’ head, instantly sending him crashing to the canvas. Recognizing that his opponent was badly hurt, Fiziev immediately followed with a barrage of precise punches on the ground. Referee Marc Goddard quickly intervened, waving off the contest before Torres could absorb unnecessary damage. The official stoppage came just 15 seconds into Round 2, producing one of the most memorable knockouts of the year.

The victory marked a triumphant homecoming for Fiziev. Fighting in front of an enthusiastic Azerbaijani crowd, he showcased the elite striking that had previously established him as one of the UFC’s most exciting lightweights. The spinning-kick knockout ended a difficult run of recent results and reminded the division that Fiziev remains one of its most technically gifted and explosive strikers.

For Torres, the defeat halted the momentum he had built through a series of highlight-reel finishes. Although his relentless pressure created competitive moments early, Fiziev’s experience, composure, and world-class kickboxing ultimately proved decisive. The spectacular finish instantly became one of the signature highlights of UFC Fight Night 280 and stood as one of the finest victories of Fiziev’s UFC career.
