Gillian Robertson defeated Marina Rodriguez via technical knockout (TKO due to punches) at 2:07 of Round 2 during the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs. Figueiredo. The bout took place on May 3, 2025, at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Following her defeat in this classic striker vs. grappler matchup, the 38-year-old Rodriguez announced her retirement from mixed martial arts.

• Round 1 Control: Robertson immediately initiated her grappling game plan, securing an early double-leg takedown to neutralize Rodriguez’s dangerous muay thai striking. On the canvas, Robertson heavily controlled the action, threatening with an arm-triangle choke, advancing to Rodriguez’s back, and landing continuous top-pressure ground-and-pound.
