Fight Breakdown
- Round 1: The bout started at a relatively measured pace. Bahamondes used his range effectively, landing crisp strikes to dictate the distance, which earned him the first round on two of the judges’ scorecards.
- Round 2: The action exploded early in the second frame. Bahamondes connected with a perfectly timed counter straight left hand that sent Musayev crashing to the canvas for a knockdown. As Bahamondes rushed to capitalize with a guillotine choke and hunt for the finish, the momentum completely shifted. Musayev committed a blatant cage grab to defend, allowing him to reverse the position and land on top. During the transition, Musayev also connected with an accidental, unpenalized headbutt and proceeded to rain down heavy ground-and-pound. A slicing elbow from Musayev opened a severe cut over Bahamondes’ right eye, leaving him covered in blood by the end of the round.
- Round 3: Musayev leaned heavily into his grappling, landing an empathetic takedown against the fence early in the final round. He suffocated Bahamondes’ offense with heavy top control and persistent pressure. Though Bahamondes managed a late sweep to take Musayev’s back in the final minute, he couldn’t lock in a submission before the horn sounded.
