Jared Cannonier defeated Gregory Rodrigues via fourth-round TKO (punches) at 0:21 of Round 4 in the middleweight main event of UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Rodrigues (UFC Vegas 102) on February 15, 2025, at the UFC Apex.
The bout was a dramatic, come-from-behind victory for the 40-year-old Cannonier, who survived immense adversity early on to stop the surging “Robocop”.

Round-by-Round Fight Breakdown

  • Round 1: Cannonier opened with low leg kicks while Rodrigues targeted the body. Early on, Rodrigues landed a heavy combination that cleanly dropped Cannonier. Cannonier scrambled back to his feet, but Rodrigues caught him again, dropping him a second time in a nightmarish opening frame. Cannonier showed his signature resilience, using a clinch and short strikes to survive the round.
  • Round 2: Cannonier adjusted by bringing relentless forward pressure. Despite bleeding heavily around his right eye, Cannonier began pacing the fight with a higher volume of punch-kick combinations. Rodrigues landed a solid right hand, but his strikes began losing their first-round steam. Cannonier secured control of the center of the cage and mixed in late leg kicks.
  •  Round 3: The action intensified as both men traded heavy blows in the pocket. Cannonier established a steady jab, though Rodrigues still countered with hard elbows and right hands. Late in the round, Rodrigues attempted a fatigued single-leg takedown. Cannonier defended it, threw a vicious short elbow in tight, and dropped Rodrigues hard. Cannonier swarmed with heavy ground-and-pound, but Rodrigues was saved by the horn.
  •  Round 4: Rodrigues walked out visibly compromised from the late third-round knockdown. Sensing the finish, Cannonier immediately surged forward, ripped the body, and clipped Rodrigues with clean, standing punches. Another heavy combination sent the Brazilian crashing back to the canvas. Referee Herb Dean quickly stepped in to wave off the fight just 21 seconds into the round.
