At UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. de Ridder  on July 26, 2025, Shara “Bullet” Magomedov defeated Marc-André Barriault via unanimous decision (30–27, 30–27, 30–27) in an absolute war that earned both fighters the $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus.

Round-by-Round Fight Breakdown

  • Round 1: Barriault immediately opened the fight with heavy forward pressure, forcing Magomedov toward the cage fence. Barriault found early success by executing a double-leg takedown and briefly securing top control. However, Magomedov smartly used the fence to work his way back up. Once on his feet, “Bullet” utilized a highly effective stick-and-move dynamic, chewing up Barriault’s lead leg with a relentless barrage of low kicks, body kicks, and piercing side kicks while avoiding boxing range.
  • Round 2: Barriault caught Magomedov with a massive right hand that clearly stunned the Russian fighter after a missed elbow attempt. From there, the matchup dissolved into a chaotic, fan-friendly “dog fight” in the pocket. The two traded heavy uppercuts, boxing combinations, and knees in the clinch. Magomedov found his momentum as the round progressed, opening up a severe cut on the top of Barriault’s head with a slicing elbow that left the Canadian bloodied.
  • Round 3: Barriault continued to press and hunt for the clinch, managing to secure another takedown and ultimately racking up a substantial 4 minutes and 30 seconds of control time across the fight. Despite Barriault’s grappling, Magomedov completely dominated the striking exchanges when separate. In the final seconds of the fight, Magomedov blew the roof off the Etihad Arena by landing a spectacular flying knee, a head kick, and pouring on ground-and-pound strikes as the final horn blew. The bout served as a critical rebound for Magomedov, who successfully returned to the win column after dropping his first career loss earlier in the year.
