Tommy McMillen vs Dumar Roa Full Fight – RUF 62

Tommy McMillen defeated Dumar Roa via first-round submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:58 of Round 1 in the catchweight main event of RUF 62: McMillen vs. Roa on April 26, 2025, at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.
The victory kept McMillen’s undefeated record intact and served as the final stepping stone before his transition to Dana White’s Contender Series and subsequent UFC debut.

The bout was originally set as a lightweight matchup, but the veteran Roa missed weight ahead of the event. Under unique catchweight stipulations enforced by McMillen’s camp, Roa was forced to weigh in again on fight day under a strict 165 lb limit. Despite the weight discrepancy, the typically 145-pound McMillen moved up in weight anyway to ensure the main event stayed intact.

• The Opening Frame: McMillen, training out of Red Hawk Academy under Coach Tim Welch, immediately took the center of the cage and began stalking Roa down. Using his massive frame, McMillen kept high forward pressure to stifle Roa’s movement. The action paused briefly following an accidental low kick from Roa, but McMillen recovered quickly and resumed pressing forward. 
• The Finish: McMillen pushed Roa against the cage, utilizing heavy knees and punches to break down the Colombian veteran. McMillen timed a smooth level-change, executed a powerful takedown, and immediately advanced his position on the canvas. With Roa heavily compromised on the floor, McMillen seamlessly took his back, slipped his arm under the chin, and locked in a deep rear-naked choke. Roa was forced to tap out just under the two-minute mark of the first round.

The first-round finish marked McMillen’s eighth consecutive professional win. The dominant performance on the regional circuit officially propelled “Tommy Gun” into the global spotlight, leading to a UFC contract later that year and his eventual organizational debut at UFC Vegas 115.
