This welterweight bout took place at UFC Vegas 109 (also known as UFC on ESPN 72) on August 9, 2025, at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas. The fight was incredibly dramatic, featuring a lightning-fast swing in momentum.

Fight Progression: From Near-Knockout to Stunning Comeback

Blazing Start & Gilbert Urbina’s Heavy Knockdown: Within just 8 to 10 seconds of the opening bell, Urbina landed a precise, powerful right hand that dropped Medic to the canvas, leaving him visibly dazed (“seeing stars”). However, Urbina chose not to follow up with ground-and-pound, instead waiting for Medic to get back to his feet. This gave his opponent a crucial window to recover.

A Split-Second Reversal – Uros Medic’s 63-Second KO Finish: About one minute into the round, the fight turned on a dime. As Urbina pressed forward to attack again, Medic capitalized on the exchange. He first connected with a sharp **left punch**, which was immediately followed by a devastating **knee strike** to Urbina’s head. With Urbina badly hurt and wobbling, Medic closed in and landed a fight-ending straight left hand that landed flush on Urbina’s chin. Urbina was knocked out cold on the spot, collapsing face-first onto the canvas. The referee jumped in to stop the bout immediately, with the official time clocked at just **1 minute and 3 seconds** into the very first round.
