Wellington Turman defeated Misha Cirkunov via submission (armbar) at 1:29 of Round 2 in their middleweight co-main event at UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs. Green (also known as UFC Vegas 49) on February 26, 2022.

Round 1: Turman Attacks Early, Cirkunov Takes Control

  • The Striking: Both fighters traded heavy strikes right out of the gate on the feet.

  • The Back Take: Turman found an opening, jumped onto Cirkunov’s back, and aggressively chased a rear-naked choke. He cranked hard across Cirkunov’s chin, exhausting a massive amount of his own energy trying to force the finish.
  • The Reversal: Cirkunov defended calmly, twisted out of the position, and dumped Turman onto the canvas.
  • Ground and Pound: Safely on top, Cirkunov dominated the remainder of the round, raining down heavy punches and threatening with a north-south choke against a visibly fatigued Turman.

Round 2: The Comeback Finish

  • The Takedown: Looking to exploit a tired opponent, Cirkunov immediately pushed forward and secured an early trip takedown.
  • The Trap: As Cirkunov began to transition and advance his position on the mat, Turman subtly shifted his hips from the bottom.
  • The Submission: “Out of nowhere,” Turman threw his legs up and perfectly locked in an armbar from his guard.
  • The Tapout: The submission was so tight and sudden that Cirkunov was forced to tap out almost instantly, handing the Brazilian a dramatic, come-from-behind victory.
